Highly responsible. It says everything about our products, way of working and particularly our materials. Because besides reliable floors we also make well-informed choices. That is what the future asks of us and what you as customer of ATC may expect.

Hardwood, spruce and bamboo. We take all our wood from sustainably managed forests. We know for sure that the source is right because we import our materials ourselves. That is how important we see sustainable thinking and particularly sustainable doing.

With a floor from ATC you are certain that you have certified wood in your bodywork or trailer. And wood of the highest standard and quality to boot. ATC is also certified according to standards and principles of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC-C012809).

Hardwood in my floor, is that really sustainable?

It seems like a contradiction in terms: seeing sustainability as important while offering wooden materials. But the two do go hand in hand as long as the wooden materials are of responsible, certified origin. That is this case with us, you can be sure of that.

If managed in a sustainable manner, wood is an inexhaustible raw material. Trees can indeed ‘already’ be harvested after 20 to 120 years as distinct from ore and mineral oil. Moreover:

Wood is renewable.No large amounts of energy are required for the production of the raw material wood.
Wood can be recycled to become new material.
Wood is used to produce green energy.
Wood is biodegradable.

Wood from certified areas does not deplete rain forests and woodlands. This is because new trees are planted. Only a few trees are felled on each hectare. This stimulates the growth of new young trees. Neither is too much extracted from the natural world.

After trees have been felled, that part of the woodland is left in peace for a longer period. This increases the efficiency of CO2 absorption. The woodlands stay ‘active’ and the absorption of CO2 in the woodlands is increased. The annual felling areas are so small that there is still always plenty of space left for people and animals alike.

Besides the European Timber Regulation (EUTR), importing market players such as ATC are compelled to use a system of care, the so-called Due Diligence DDS. We then minimise the risk of the import of illegal wood.

Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC)

With the acknowledged FSC certificate we as an organisation comply with the highest requirements at social, environmental and economic level. We are audited again each year. This each time means confirmation that we are doing things the right way, according to the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC-C012809).

The FSC certificate guarantees that our wooden materials come from areas where trees, nature and the environment are treated in a responsible manner.

FLEGT

FLEGT stends for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade. This European regulation forbids the import of wood and wood products without valid FLEGT permit. This is a part of the voluntary partnership agreement concluded by the European Union with various countries.

Indonesia was the first country ready to issue FLEGT permits. ATC processes a lot of wood from Indonesia. Then you as customer always know for sure that we import wood products with FLEGT permits.
